Do you know the way to San Jose?

Jake posting here. Wow how quickly things change in life. We are now residents of San Jose, CA. Well technically I still need to get my driver's license but aside from that ... here we are. Amazing how life takes you places you never thought you'd go. And you look back and see the Lord's hand in it.

Last weekend we loaded up a U-Haul truck to make the nearly 800 mile trip from Cottonwood Heights, UT to a quiet little street in south San Jose. After 16 hours, 6 bathroom stops, 2 fuel stops, 1 carsick child (that got messy), and 1 very rough ride over Tahoe (no economic stimulus spent on those roads) ; we safely arrived at our destination.

Poor Stef (who is now only two weeks away from her due date) had to drive the car in which the air conditioner quit working two days prior. Personally I think it just couldn't keep up with the body temp. of a super pregnant woman in summer.

I have to say thank you to everyone who gave so much help in getting us loaded and unloaded. Can't every repay you. And thankfully my Dad came along and stayed through the week and he was a huge help.

So first impressions ... this place is beautiful, it's green everywhere, the climate is awesome, everyone is very friendly, there is an enormous amount of diversity (you can't be a xenophobe here). The traffic ... okay we won't go there. Actually being in traffic here really isn't all that bad. It's just part of life so people kind of just make it work.

Okay a few photos ...

Riding the "Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad" at Oak Meadow park in Los Gatos, CA.

James had the fortune of starting Kindergarten twice within a few weeks; once in Cottonwood Heights and then in San Jose. Here he is with his one of his new teachers in San Jose.

Celebrities in CA! When Stef and I first drove out here three weeks ago to look for a house we managed to track down Luigi for an interview. I'm also told that Danny Ainge's father is our High Councilman.

A picture from one of the outdoor breezeway's on Altera's campus (my new employer). The campus is like one huge garden. If you look close you can see the outdoor eating area.

The new crib.

So glad you made it there relatively unscathed. Stef, you are a TROOPER! Best of luck with Baby Jones III. I can't wait to hear all about it.

I'm happy to hear that the waters are a little smoother than during the move. I can't imagine moving right before delivering a baby.I saw Stef's parents at the store a couple weeks ago. I thought of Patty as I picked up my pink Brita filter. I hope her treatments go well. We'll be thinking of her.
